Built, not assembled

Everything you touch is a decision someone made on purpose.

A custom closet is not a rail and a shelf. It is a set of judgements about how much you hang and how much you fold, where the light falls at 6am, which drawer you open every single morning, and how far a door can swing before it hits the bed frame.

We measure your room, design it in 3D, manufacture every panel to those dimensions, and install it ourselves. One company, start to finish — which is why there is nobody to point at when something needs to be right.

  • 01

    Measured in your home

Every panel is cut to your walls, not trimmed from a stock kit on site.

  • 02

    Signed off in 3D

You approve elevations, finishes and hardware before anything is manufactured.

  • 03

    Warranted for life

Materials and workmanship, no exceptions and no expiry date.

  • 04

Fitted by the people who drew it

Our own installers, never a subcontracted crew you have never met.

Standard on every system

  • Full-extension soft-close drawer runners, rated to 100lb
  • Adjustable shelving on 32mm centres — re-set it as your wardrobe changes
  • Finished backs and edges, not raw board turned to the wall
  • Solid timber hanging rods or LED-lit metal, your call
  • Levelled and scribed to walls that are never actually square

What we build

Six rooms, one workshop.

The same cabinetry, hardware and lifetime warranty go into a reach-in closet in Bradenton and a full media wall in Lakewood Ranch. Pick the room and we will show you what fits inside it.

Closet with double-hang rods and drawer storage maximising wardrobe capacity in Bradenton, FL
Double-hang doubles the rod length in the same footprint. Bradenton.

Every kind of closet

A closet is not one product.

A 4ft reach-in in a Venice condo and a dressing room in Lakewood Ranch need completely different thinking. Same workshop, same warranty, different drawing entirely.

Walk-in closets
Full dressing rooms — islands, seating, lit glass-front cabinets, dedicated shoe walls and a vanity run if the footprint allows it.
Reach-in closets
The standard bedroom closet, rebuilt. Double-hang, a drawer tower where the floor was wasted, and shelving that goes to the ceiling.
Master & primary closets
His-and-hers zoning, separate hanging heights, a hamper that is actually built in, and somewhere to put jewellery that is not a bathroom drawer.
Small-space storage
Condos, casitas and 1970s builds where the closet is 4ft wide. Corner units, sliding-door clearances, and every inch above head height put to work.
Kids & teen closets
Low hanging that moves up as they grow, open bins instead of doors, and shelving on 32mm centres so the whole thing re-configures in an afternoon.
Wardrobes & armoires
Freestanding-look built-ins for bedrooms with no closet at all, scribed to the wall so they read as architecture rather than furniture.

The honest comparison

What the builder gave you, and what replaces it.

Almost every closet in a Florida production home is a single coated-wire rod with a shelf over it. It is cheap, it goes in fast, and it wastes roughly a third of the volume in the room — because the space above the shelf is unreachable and the space below the hanging rail is empty air.

That is the whole pitch. Not better-looking storage — more storage, in the room you already have.

Builder-grade wire shelving compared with a custom closet system

HangingOne rod at one height. Shirts leave two feet of dead air underneath.Double-hang where it suits shirts and trousers, long-hang kept for coats and dresses.
ShelvingA single shelf at rod height. Anything above it is out of reach and out of use.Adjustable shelving to the ceiling on 32mm centres, re-set whenever you like.
Folded clothesStacked on the floor, in bins, or teetering on the top shelf.Drawer banks at eye and waist height, soft-close, so folded items stay folded.
ShoesOn the floor, in the way of the door.Angled or flat shoe shelving sized to the pairs you actually own.
Small itemsShoeboxes and carrier bags.Divided inserts, velvet jewellery trays, valet rods, belt and tie racks.
LifespanCoated steel that sags, then rusts in coastal air.Sealed engineered panel, lifetime warranty on materials and workmanship.

So what does replacing it cost?

A standard bedroom reach-in — dual rods, a drawer tower, shelving to the ceiling — starts around $2,500 installed. A walk-in with an island, glass fronts and lighting is a different conversation, and we will not pretend otherwise on a web page.

Either way the figure comes off a measured drawing you have already approved, and financing is available at 0% interest with 20% down.

What it is made of

The parts you touch every morning.

Every finish, pull and runner below is on a display in the Bradenton showroom. You do not have to take our word for how a soft-close drawer feels — you can go and close one.

  1. Natural oak office storage cabinetry display in the Bradenton showroom
    01

    Finishes

Matte and textured melamine in white, alabaster, greige, walnut, espresso and driftwood oak. Colour-matched edge banding on every exposed edge.

  2. LED-lit closet hanging rod detail with a branded wooden hanger in the Bradenton showroom
    02

    Hardware

Brushed nickel, matte black and antique brass pulls; full-extension soft-close runners; valet rods, belt and tie racks, and pull-down hanging bars.

  3. Showroom walk-in closet display with glass cabinets and shoe shelving in Bradenton, FL
    03

    Glass & lighting

Clear, frosted and reeded glass cabinet fronts, plus LED shelf and rod lighting on a dimmer so the closet reads like a boutique rather than a utility room.

  4. Glass-topped watch drawer with velvet-lined dividers and a brass pull inside a custom closet in Sarasota, FL
    04

    Drawer interiors

Velvet-lined jewellery and watch trays under glass, divided sock and tie inserts, deep hampers on runners, and lift-out laundry bins.

Finishes are matched to your room, not picked from a photo. Bring a cabinet door, a floor sample or a paint chip to the showroom and we will hold it against the real thing.

How it works

From tape measure to finished room.

Four steps, one company. The designer who measures your room is the person who draws it, and our own installers fit it — nobody hands you off halfway through.

Josiah was very prompt for our initial meeting. We discussed my needs and he made some very good suggestions. I received the quote and drawings the next day.

    Consultation

We come to you. A designer measures the space, looks at what you own and how you move through the room, then talks through what is actually possible inside those dimensions. It is free and there is no obligation at the end of it.

    3D Design

You see the room before it exists — elevations, finishes, hardware, the lot, rendered in 3D. Change the drawer stack, swap the finish, add a second hanging tier. Nothing gets manufactured until the drawing is exactly what you want.

We contacted Dream Closets to provide us a design and quote for a large master bedroom closet. From the first contact to the installation, the service was excellent. The design was exactly what we wanted and the quality of the materials is very good. The installation team was professional, clean and efficient. I highly recommend Dream Closets!

Josiah is named by name in four of these five. That is not an accident — the person who designs your closet is the person who installs it.

What moves the price

  • Linear feet, not square feet. A closet is priced by how much wall you are filling and how tall you take it, not by the floor area of the room.
  • Drawers. A drawer bank is the single biggest line item in most closets — boxes, runners and fronts all cost more than an open shelf.
  • Doors and glass. Solid fronts add cost over open shelving; glass and reeded glass add more again.
  • Lighting. LED shelf and rod lighting means a driver, a switch and sometimes an electrician, so it is quoted separately.
  • Islands and seating. Beautiful, and the thing most likely to move a walk-in from mid four figures into five.

Before the design visit

Five things worth measuring first.

You do not have to do any of this — we measure everything ourselves. But if you want a realistic ballpark before we arrive, these are the numbers that decide it.

  1. 01

    Wall-to-wall width, at three heights

Rooms are rarely square. Measure at the floor, at rod height and at the ceiling, and give us the smallest of the three.

  2. 02

    Depth, including the door swing

A closet door that opens inward eats depth we cannot use. Note which way it swings and how far.

  3. 03

Ceiling height, and anything in the way

Soffits, sprinkler heads, attic hatches, sloped ceilings and A/C returns all change the drawing.

  4. 04

    Outlets, switches and vents

They cannot be covered. Knowing where they are before we design saves a revision.

  5. 05

    What actually has to fit

Count long-hang items and shoe pairs, and tell us what is currently living on the floor. That count drives the whole layout.

Questions we get asked

If yours isn't here, phone us. We would rather answer it now than have you wonder about it for a week.

Not covered here?

(941) 242-1452

Monday – Friday, 8:00am – 4:00pm. Or come and ask in person at the Bradenton showroom — 8007 34th Ave E, Bradenton, FL 34211.

Ask a designer
01Do you offer free consultations?

Yes. We offer complimentary, no-obligation in-home design consultations. A designer visits your home in Sarasota, Bradenton or Lakewood Ranch, measures the space and gives you personalised recommendations — at no cost to you.

02How much do custom closets cost?

Custom closet systems start around $2,500. The final figure depends on the size of the space, the materials you choose and how complex the design is — a reach-in refit sits at the lower end, a full walk-in dressing room at the upper. You get a detailed, no-pressure quote during your free consultation, and financing is available at 0% interest with 20% down.

03What is the process for getting a custom closet?

It starts with a free in-home consultation where we measure your space and talk through how you actually use it. Next we build a 3D design for your approval. Once you sign off, your system is manufactured to those exact specifications and we schedule an installation date that works for you.

04How long does a custom closet installation take?

Most installations are completed in a single day. Larger projects and whole-home systems typically run one to two days. Our own crew does the work — no subcontractors — and we leave the space clean and ready to use.

05Can I see the systems before I buy?

Yes, and we encourage it. Our Bradenton showroom at 8007 34th Ave E has more than ten full-size closet and storage displays, so you can open the drawers, compare finishes and handle the hardware before anything is built. Open Monday to Friday 8am–4pm, and Saturdays by appointment.

06Do I need to empty the closet before you arrive?

Yes — the room needs to be clear of clothing, shoes and anything stored on the floor before installation day, and the old wire shelving can stay up. We take that out, patch nothing structural, and haul the old material away with us. If you want a hand planning where everything goes back, ask your designer at the 3D stage and we will zone it for you.

07What happens to the drywall when the wire shelving comes out?

Wire shelving is usually anchored straight into drywall, so pulling it leaves holes. Our systems are designed to cover the majority of that wall, and where a hole would still show we patch and touch up. We are not painters, so if the room needs a full repaint we will tell you before we start rather than after.

08Do you work in condos with HOA rules?

Constantly — it is most of what we do on Longboat Key, Siesta Key and in downtown Sarasota. We work inside the unit, so there is no exterior change to approve, but many associations still want notice, a certificate of insurance and a lift or service-elevator booking. Tell us the building at the consultation and we will handle the paperwork side.

09Will a custom closet survive Florida humidity?

The materials we use are engineered panel with sealed edge banding rather than raw particle board, which is what fails in coastal air. On barrier-island and waterfront jobs we also specify corrosion-resistant hardware, because it is the rods and runners that pit first, not the cabinetry. Everything is covered by the lifetime warranty either way.

10Do you offer financing?

Yes — 0% interest with 20% down. It is arranged at the quote stage, so you know the monthly figure before you commit rather than discovering it at signing.

Custom closets on the Gulf Coast

Custom closets & storage solutions in Sarasota and Bradenton

Dream Closets LLC designs, manufactures and installs custom closets, closet organizers and built-in cabinetry for homeowners across Sarasota, Bradenton, Lakewood Ranch, Venice and the wider Gulf Coast. Every system is engineered from nothing — drawn around your exact walls, your actual wardrobe and the way you move through the room — so it fits properly on day one and is still doing its job in twenty years.

Most Florida homes are built with a rail and a shelf of coated wire, and that single decision costs you roughly a third of the usable volume in every closet in the house. A proper walk-in or reach-in closet system recovers it — double-hang sections for shirts and trousers, long-hang for dresses and coats, drawer banks that put folded items at eye level instead of in a heap on the top shelf, and adjustable shelving that can be re-set as what you own changes.

The same thinking applies elsewhere in the house. A custom home office with a built-in desk and concealed filing turns a spare bedroom into a room you can genuinely work in. A media center puts the cables and the console clutter behind doors. A custom pantry with pull-out shelving means you stop buying a third jar of something you already had. And garage cabinets built for Florida heat and humidity get the mower, the tools and the hurricane supplies off the slab and onto a wall.

What separates us locally is that all of it happens under one roof. The designer who measures your closet in Sarasota or Bradenton is the one who draws it, and our own installers fit it — there is nobody subcontracted between you and the finished room. That is also why we can warrant both the materials and the workmanship for life, and why most projects are done inside a single day.

Come and see it before you commit to anything. The showroom at 8007 34th Ave E in Bradenton has more than ten full-size displays, and a free in-home 3D design consultation costs you nothing but an hour. Systems start at $2,500, financing is available at 0% interest with 20% down, and every quote comes from a measured drawing rather than a guess.
